Gon, Killua, Biscuit, and Goreinu discuss on who they should recruit on their team. Gon opens his book and they go through the list of people they have met. They notice that the light besides Binolt's name has dimmed. Goreinu explains that when this happens, the person either has left the island, or has died. After going through the whole list and still not finding anyone strong enough to team up with, Gon suggests that they should check out the guy under the name "Chrollo Lucilfer". But Killua was against this and simply stated that it must be a member of the Phantom Troupe. But Gon still wanted to check it out.
Goreinu suggests that they could find out "Chrollo's" real intention by using Sightvision, which would allow a player to check the number of cards another player had collected. It turns out that "Chrollo" only had 6 free-slot cards, and that all of them were food items. This confirms their suspicion that his goal was not collecting the Restricted Slot Cards. Killua finally concedes to Gon's wish out and they use Accompany to go meet "Chrollo". To their shock, "Chrollo" turns out to be Hisoka, who was at the time, having a bath in a river. The two boys immediately go into their defense stance. Hisoka comments on this, stating that they had found quite a good trainer.
As he gets dressed, Hisoka ponders on what he should do. He decides that that telling them the truth, they would stop him from meeting the Troupe. So instead, he lies and states that he too was searching for Chrollo. He then in turn questions why they really wanted to meet him, as it couldn't possible be just to see his face. But to his surprise, Gon replies that that was really the only reason. At this point, Biscuit steps in and states that they are looking for strong fighters and requests Hisoka to join their team. Hisoka agrees, stating that he didn't have anything to do anyway.
The others object, to which Biscuit points her finger upwards and stating that it would be fine as both she and Hisoka are quite alike. The others get the signal and use Gyo, only to see Biscuit using her nen to write out that Hisoka was lying. They decide to go along with her. Biscuit then proceeds to debrief Hisoka on what their goal was.
