Welfin imagines his face being eaten by the King, Meruem, as Pufu watches on, bowing to the King. Welfin is so full of terror and dread of dying by the King's hands, he begins to lose his fur and rapidly aged. His life begins to flash before his eyes as his memories swirl. All while trying to think of a single word to keep him alive. He knows, the wrong one means death, but the right means living one more day. Ikalgo's message, Pufu's secret, memories, fears, death: all enter his thoughts at once, scrambling his brain to stand speechless in front of the King. Finally, knowing he has one second to live he whimpers out, "Komugi?" Pufu and the King are stunned, especially the King, who's memories of playing Gungi with Komugi return. Pufu instantly realizes this, blood still dripping from his mouth and nose, knowing now all hope is lost.
He's shocked Komugi could have such an incredible impact on the King, even after his amnesia. The King asks if this was the secret Pufu was keeping, and he says yes, and awaits punishment. The King says there is no need. He wants Pufu to look for Pitou and to release Knuckle and Meleoron after their questioning. Pufu knows the old King would never have let them go. At the same time, Meruem realizes Ikalgo and Palm must have been the one's moving Komugi underground. The King turns to Welfin, asking if his hatred toward him has to do with "the octopus." All the King wants to know is if Komugi is there. He'll gladly let Welfin free for helping him remember Komugi's name. Welfin tells him they're in Bizeff's quarters. As the King walks away, Welfin screams out how Gyro is his one and only king. Meruem wishes he could meet Gyro, someone Welfin admires so, and he even says how he wishes to "live as a human." Pufu yells in anguish at the thought.
