Komugi is seen playing Gungi with the King. She thanks Meruem for saving her, but he denies it, claiming that his subordinate did it. He remembers his Royal Guards and Komugi tells him to thank the ones who saved her instead. Meruem replies that he will and states that he will be joining them soon. Then they start playing Gungi again. Meruem recalls the time when Komugi first asked for his name but he didn't reply because he himself didn't know it. He then finally reveals his name 'Meruem' to which Komugi shows her gratefulness by bowing and calling him 'Meruem-sama'. He bows and tells her that there's no need for the honorific. When Komugi asks him, Meruem instead tells her not to make him repeat himself. The King makes a bet, if he wins at Gungi, Komugi must call him without the honorific. Komugi agrees and asks if it's okay for her to die if she refers to him without an honorific. Meruem tells her there's no need to die as he already changed his ways.
They start to play once again. After a few moments, Komugi starts to cry. Meruem asks her why and she replies that she's crying from happiness. Meruem confesses to her that he's going to die soon because of poison. He states during his last moments, he wants to play Gungi with her. He adds the poison is contagious, and if she stays with him for too long, she might be poisoned as well. Komugi ignores this and instead, continues to play. She tells him she is happy and let him accompany her.
