"I know I've scored better than Gon overall yet they see more potential in him?!"
The final round is about to begin. It will be in the format of one-on-one duels. You only need to win once to pass the exam. In order to win, you must get your opponent to surrender; killing your opponent will result in disqualification, and the remaining examinees will automatically pass. Losers will move up the bracket until there is only one player left. In other words, only one examinee will be eliminated, and everyone else will become hunters.
Killua says the bracket structure isn't balanced because some get more chances to win than others. Netero explains that the brackets were created based on results in previous rounds. It's based on strength, mind, and charisma, but the exact methods cannot be disclosed. Killua is upset because he has been rated lower than Gon.
The first match is about to begin, featuring Hanzo vs. Gon. Hanzo notes that the referee of the match had been following him during the previous round. Hanzo questions if every examinee had a corresponding juror following them. The battle begins, and it is clearly one-sided in favor of Hanzo. Hanzo begins torturing Gon in ways to get him to concede the match, but Gon refuses no matter what. Leorio and Kurapika are infuriated, but the referee warns them that any interference will result in Gon's disqualification. Hanzo continues his torture and breaks one of Gon's arms.
