Synopsis[]

Chap 55 - Machi reattaching Hisoka's arm

Machi reattaching Hisoka's arm

After Hisoka defeats Kastro, he begins to leave the loud arena and sees a woman waiting for him. She congratulates him and then tells him to show his arms to her. Back in Hisoka's room, the woman tells an armless Hisoka that the match proved to her that he's an idiot. She wonders why he put on the performance, but quickly says that it means more money for her, removing a needle from the pin cushion on her hand and using her aura to create a thread. She examines Hisoka's left arm and tells him to shut off the aura around it. She stops the bleeding and then uses her Nen Stitches to quickly sew together all the tissue, pulling it tight and reattaching the severed limb.

Hisoka moves his arm around and calls her brilliant. She then moves on to his right arm and asks him to hold it while she repeats the procedure. Hisoka tells her that it's always fun to watch and playfully adds that he seems to get injured on purpose so that he can see her work up close. The woman immediately asks for Jenny Symbol 201120 million for his left arm, and Jenny Symbol 201150 million for his right, telling him that he can use his Bungee Gum and Texture Surprise to cover up the ragged edges.

Hisoka covering the seams with Texture Surprise

Realizing that she's right and that it will make it seem like magic, Hisoka pulls out a handkerchief and attaches it to his arm with Bungee Gum before using Texture Surprise to reproduce the texture of skin. The woman is left impressed by his speed and tells herself that most people would think that his arm healed itself. It's then stated that Hisoka's two abilities led him to victory, both of which are described in detail: with the name taken from his favorite brand of chewing gum as a kid, Bungee Gum allows Hisoka to make his aura both elastic and sticky so that he can attach it to anything and pull it off at will. Taking its name from a popular snack with funny stickers, Texture Surprise involves Hisoka adding imagery to his aura to reproduce the appearance of numerous surfaces (only possible on flat, paper-like materials). The result is compared to a photocopy, and although anyone would be able to tell that it's the wrong texture if they touched it, Hisoka finds that it makes his deception even more exciting.

Hisoka's fight against Kastro is then explained: when Hisoka removed the handkerchief, he tossed up the 13 cards as a distraction so that he could also toss up his right arm, using Bungee Gum to hold it to the ceiling and the handkerchief on the ground. The strands of aura attached to both of these were connected to his right stump, and the cards were secured to the ground as well with the strands of aura attached to Hisoka's left hand. When Hisoka tossed the ace of spades toward Kastro, he simultaneously threw the 13 strands and stuck them to Kastro's body. Kastro was unable to notice this because Hisoka had used a variation of Zetsu to make his aura as invisible as it could be. It's possible for anyone who has learned Ren to focus their aura in their eyes, but Hisoka distracted Kastro with his magic tricks and masked his lack of aura with his calm indifference.

Chap 55 - Hisoka confident in his abilities

Hisoka confident in his abilities

After attaching the aura from his left fist onto Kastro's chin when he held it out to be severed and applying Texture Surprise to the bottom of the handkerchief, Hisoka retracted the Bungee Gum on the handkerchief and his right arm, making it seem as if his right arm had been magically healed while Kastro removed his left. Kastro then realized that Hisoka had to have used Nen to accomplish the feat, and it's stated that Texture Surprise was not essential to Hisoka's victory. Hisoka noticed the change in Kastro's attitude and deliberately distressed him with his words, eventually causing Kastro to become desperate after his *doppelganger's weaknesses were revealed. With Kastro defeated, Hisoka remained confident that his abilities were most suited to himself and that unlike Kastro's, he could reveal their secrets without reducing their effectiveness.

The woman tells Hisoka that she's leaving since her job is finished, reminding him not to use his arms too much until they're healed. She then remembers that their orders have changed and that everyone is now required to meet in Yorknew City by noon on August 30th. Hisoka asks if Chrollo will be there, and the woman assumes so since it could be their biggest mission yet, warning him that Chrollo may punish him personally if he doesn't show. Hisoka pretends to be afraid and asks if she will have dinner with him, but the woman quickly leaves the room without answering.

Chap 55 - Hisoka masquerading as a member of the Phantom Troupe

Hisoka masquerading as a member of the Phantom Troupe

As Hisoka takes a shower and a #4 spider tattoo is revealed on his back, it's stated that Hisoka never talks about his past since he isn't interested in what has happened and that he will probably forget Kastro's appearance the very next day. As it's added that he doesn't belong to anything or anyone, Hisoka dries himself off and sees the tattoo in the mirror, saying that he forgot to remove it again. After he peels off the fake tattoo made possible by Texture Surprise, he thinks of Gon and Killua and says that it's time for him to hunt down the Spiders now that he has found new toys. It's then stated that Hisoka is his own man and confidently believes that he is the most powerful.
