Promise (
Synopsis[]
In Killua's room at Heavens Arena, Zushi helps him and Gon with their Ren training, telling them to visualize the built-up energy and project it outward. However, the two easily perform the technique before Zushi can even finish the explanation. Gon says that they are getting the hang of it, and Killua adds that they still need to work a little on their timing for Ten to contain all the aura. Zushi is left stunned by their quick progress, saying to himself that it took him weeks to learn the timing. Gon points out that their aura is still weaker than Zushi's, and Killua suggests practicing more to increase it. Zushi quickly tells them that they have trained enough for the day and need to rest their bodies. Killua replies that he isn't too tired, but Zushi asks Killua to trust him, saying to himself that he would feel inept if they surpassed him in only half a day. Gon and Zushi say good night to Killua, who plans to see the two tomorrow and seems to be waiting for something.
As Zushi makes his way back to his hotel, Sadaso suddenly appears behind him and traps him in a giant left hand made of aura, preventing him from speaking or breathing. After the unconscious Zushi falls into Riehlvelt's lap, Killua confronts the two and says that they only need to pick a day if they want to fight him, promising to give all of them a free win. He explains that Gon would feel too guilty to keep training if he broke another promise to their teacher, which he wouldn't want to happen. He tells them to work around Gon's schedule if they want to fight him since he would be more than happy to do so. Sadaso chuckles and agrees to the arrangement, with Riehlvelt explaining that they will go register now before they return Zushi unharmed.
Back on the 200th floor of Heavens Arena, Killua registers for May 29th, and the two fighters return Zushi to him. Killua carries the unconscious Zushi on his back and tells them that it's the last time, stopping himself before he says what will happen to them if they don't hold up their end of the deal. As Killua stresses that they should keep their promise, Gido is seen hiding behind a nearby corner as he calls Gon and tells him to look outside his door, ordering him not to tell anyone and adding that his friend will be returned safely if he does as they say. On his way to Zushi's hotel, Killua says that it's difficult to make an honest living and to get things done without killing. Outside his room at Heavens Arena, Gon finds one of Zushi's shoes and becomes worried.
The next day, Killua finds that Gon has already left his room before he heads to Wing and Zushi's hotel. In the crowded street, he hears a man selling tickets for a match between Gon and Sadaso, asking if he can buy one and wondering what Sadaso is like. The man explains that he's a one-armed fighter with a mask-like face who quickly wins once he seizes his opponent with his invisible left hand. As he adds that Sadaso is called the newbie hunter, the man recognizes the change in Killua's expression as he turns to leave. Another man asks what's going on, and the man recognizes him as Killua, pointing out that he also fights on the 200th floor. The second man realizes that Killua fights Sadaso before Gon does, adding that he's too young to stand a chance. However, the first man disagrees and bets 50,000 that Killua will win.
After Killua arrives at Wing's hotel room, Wing thanks him for carrying Zushi back home. Killua asks him how he feels, and Zushi replies that he's feeling better, guessing that he must have really been tired. Gon asks if he found Zushi, and Killua lies by saying that someone called him and said his friend was sleeping by the arena’s front gate. Killua then asks Wing if he can see the video of Hisoka's match again, revealing that he has already learned Gyo and leaving both Wing and Zushi stunned.
Using Ren and then Gyo while watching the match footage, Killua says that Hisoka used 15 strands of aura (13 to the cards, one to the handkerchief, and one to the arm he tossed up). Killua analyzes more of the footage with Gyo and describes Hisoka's aura as stretchy, also guessing that it may work like a magnet since his arm reattached itself and struck Kastro's jaw. He decides to go with the former observation and adds that Hisoka's aura must be similar to sticky rubber, which would explain most of his tricks. As Killua releases his Ren and catches his breath, a stunned Zushi realizes that Killua is much more skilled than he is. Impressed by his analysis, Wing tells Killua that he has passed and that he didn't expect both of them to learn Gyo in only one night.
Killua turns to Gon, who confirms that he learned it as well but couldn't figure out Hisoka's ability. Wing then asks Killua if he also finished the assignment early so he could fight as soon as possible, with Gon assuring Killua that he just wanted to fight rather than get a head start on him. As Killua smiles and realizes that they both had the same idea, he tells Wing that he wants to fight on May 29th, lying that it's his birthday. With Gon left surprised by Killua’s mention of the date, Wing gives them permission to fight and says that he underestimated how quickly they would progress, telling them to practice Ten and Ren while also getting enough rest.
As the two leave the hotel, Gon asks Killua if the fighters blackmailed him as well, saying that it makes him really angry. Killua confirms that they did, but points out that Wing gave them permission to fight and Zushi was returned unharmed. Although Gon doesn't mind giving up a win, he worries about Zushi being threatened again, but Killua assures him that it won't happen. With ten minutes left before the start of his match, Sadaso waits in the locker room and looks at himself in a mirror, saying that Killua and Gon will be his sixth and seventh wins, respectively. He excitedly reminds himself that he only needs three more wins to become a Floor Master. However, as Sadaso thinks about the money and fame he will gain, a knife suddenly seems to split his head in two as Killua appears behind him with a knife at the ready and warns him that he will die if he moves, uses Nen, or even speaks. Killua orders him to close his eyes and asks him if he sees what happens when he breaks his promises, telling him to open his eyes and look at him in the mirror. As Sadaso nervously sweats and breathes heavily, Killua makes it clear that he will never show his face to them again. It's then announced that Killua has won the match by default.
