Chap 80 - Leorio explaining his plan to Gon and Killua

Leorio explaining his plan to Gon and Killua

Sitting in a room with Gon and Killua, Leorio adds up their Jenny Symbol 20118 million budget: a diamond ring worth Jenny Symbol 20113 million, Jenny Symbol 20112.4 million in cash, and Jenny Symbol 20112.75 million they made from challenging strangers to arm wrestling. He says that it won't be possible, through legal means, to increase it to Jenny Symbol 2011900 million for the minimum bid. Gon comments that their arm wrestling scheme wasn't legitimate either, and Killua adds that only people looking for a rematch wanted to challenge them in the last few hours. Gon says that the rumors will keep people away. Still, Leorio replies that he wants the rumors to be as exaggerated as possible since the arm wrestling contest is just baiting to draw out bigger opportunities.

It's stated that Hisoka is a Transmuter who turns his aura into a substance like rubber and gum (calling the ability Bungee Gum). It's added that his Texture Surprise allows him to recreate various textures like a sticker and that Bungee Gum has more force the more it's stretched out, but once it's detached from his body, it will tear after it's stretched more than 10 meters.

Back in the street, Leorio announces to the crowd that the first one to beat the boy at arm wrestling wins a diamond ring worth Jenny Symbol 20113 million. Someone asks their friend if they want to try, but the other person says that the boy beat 500 guys yesterday. Another person adds that he broke the arms of 20 guys and was raised by a gorilla. Leorio listens to all the rumors spreading around and tells himself that there has to be a betting pool elsewhere that's gambling on the outcome.

Chap 80 - Leorio displaying his strength

Leorio displaying his strength

A giant man suddenly walks toward Leorio and says that he will do it. However, once he sits down and puts his arm out, he asks how it will work since Gon's arm isn't big enough. Leorio tells Gon to switch with him, but an associate of the challenger says that those weren't the rules. Leorio then includes Jenny Symbol 20115 million in addition to the ring, and the two men agree to the deal. Leorio and the large man lock hands, and once the signal is given, Leorio immediately smashes his arm down and breaks the table, leaving the challenger and crowd dumbfounded.

Leorio realizes that no one else will want to challenge them now, but the man's associate praises Leorio, who then replies that the two boys are even stronger. The man is impressed and gives Leorio a card with directions, telling him to come by around 5:00 p.m. if he has the time. Leorio says that they may have stumbled on a big opportunity, and after the three make their way through a large crowd of people, they approach a curtain with two men standing in front of it. Leorio hands them the card, and they tell him to take the elevator all the way down.

Chap 80 - The announcer explaining the details of the contest

The announcer explaining the details of the contest

The three arrive at a large arena with a fighting ring in the center and a murmuring crowd sitting in the stands. Killua notes that the crowd wants blood, and once the clock hits 5:00, an announcer steps out and welcomes them to the conditional auction. He says that the game will be hide and seek, leaving Leorio confused. Assistants begin to hand out pieces of paper, and the announcer explains that the seven people pictured are their targets. The flyer has small pictures and descriptions for Uvogin, Shizuku, Shalnark, Feitan, Machi, Franklin, and Nobunaga. Leorio then remembers that Shikuzu was the woman who wrestled Gon earlier.

The announcer reveals that they will pay Jenny Symbol 2011200 million for each target that they capture and bring back, adding that the game has no deadline and the targets can be dead or alive. Gon and Leorio are excited at the opportunity to make as much as Jenny Symbol 20111.4 billion, but an unsure Killua continues to look over the targets. The announcer says that it costs Jenny Symbol 20115 million to register and asks them to give back the flyer if they refuse to participate.

As the other participants begin their search, Leorio seems eager to keep up with them, but Killua reminds him that even the Mafia is having a hard time capturing them. Leorio is left confused, and Killua explains that the contest was clearly set up by the Mafia since they can't capture the targets by themselves. He reminds Leorio about the fighting ring and guesses that they originally planned to have a mindless brawl. He also points out that the prize was a check, and Leorio realizes that the targets were the ones who stole the items that would have been used as the prizes. Killua says that one would have to be crazy to steal from the Mafia, and the only people crazy enough to do it are the Phantom Troupe.

Chap 80 - Uvogin confronting Kurapika

Uvogin confronting Kurapika

Gon then asks where Kurapika is, and Killua realizes that he should be in the city by now, wondering why he hasn't called. Gon uses his Beatle-07 to contact Kurapika, but the phone continues to ring as Kurapika waits inside the Hotel Beitacle and Uvogin slowly makes his way up the stairs. Once the ringing stops, Uvogin opens the door to the hotel room and is impressed that Kurapika stayed behind by himself, asking him to choose where he wants to die. Kurapika replies that he would prefer somewhere isolated since he is confident that Uvogin's death will be noisy.

After Gon hangs up and guesses that Kurapika must be working, Leorio asks him what the job is and Gon replies that he's working as a bodyguard. Leorio guesses that it's for a V.I.P. client in the underworld since Kurapika is looking for the Scarlet Eyes. Gon wonders if Kurapika went to the auction and got caught up in the crime, but Leorio replies that Kurapika would have gotten himself involved if the Troupe is actually behind things. He chuckles and says that Kurapika may have already captured a few of them, and Gon says that he hopes that's the case. Killua then reveals that his father once killed one of the Spiders for a job. However, he adds that his father gave the task his highest compliment when he complained that the pay wasn't worth it, also telling him and his siblings three years ago to stay away from the Troupe. Leorio asks if he told Kurapika, and Killua says that there wasn't any point. Gon wonders what they should do and eventually decides to track down the Troupe members on the list.
