Synopsis[]

Gon & Killua HXH 99 EP40 003

Killua lists off the injuries Gon received during his match with Gido, chastising Gon for challenging Gido and going against Wing's wishes, as Gon lays in bed. He estimates it'll take Gon four months to heal completely. Wing enters the room, and Gon apologizes, but Wing responds by slapping him across the face and yelling at him. He expresses extreme concern for what could have happened to Gon in his fight and won't accept any of Gon's apologies.

Wing asks Killua how long it'll take for Gon to recover fully, and Killua lies and says two months. Wing then forbids Gon from participating in any matches and researching or practicing Nen for the entire two months of his recovery. Gon agrees, and Wing puts a small red band around Gon's pinky finger on his left hand to remind him of his pledge.

Wing & Killua HXH 99 EP40

Wing and Killua talking

Wing asks to speak to Killua alone, and the two go out into the hall together. Wing asks about Killua, and Gon's goals, and Killua gives a somewhat wishy-washy answer, unable to express any clear goal of his own. He does; however, say that beyond Gon's goal of settling his score with Hisoka, Gon genuinely seemed to enjoy fighting at Heavens Arena, especially during his match against Gido, despite the potential lethality of the fight. Wing seems legitimately concerned about having taught the boys Nen. Killua tries to assuage Wing's regrets, but it only seems to help Wing a bit.

Wing offers to let Killua continue his training with him and Zushi, but Killua does not want to leave Gon behind in his training. Wing decides to give Gon some freedom and says he can practice Ten and Nen of the Flame during his two-month healing. Killua tells Gon this news and finds Gon sleeping in bed.

Kurapika1999

Kurapika trying to get a job

At the Sengi Guild, Kurapika speaks with an agent who says she can't hire Kurapika for any jobs because, although he has a Hunter License, he still hasn't passed the final exam. Kurapika is confused by this, and the agent asks if he can see anything besides her at that moment. He can't, and the agent tells him to return once he can.

The group's photo HXH 99 EP40

Leorio's desk photo

Leorio, in his home, studies all night for his medical school exams, occasionally staring at the photo of himself, Kurapika, Killua, and Gon on his desk.

A month after Gon's match with Gido, Killua enters Gon's room in the morning and sees him jumping around and doing handstands, already having recovered from his injuries, much to Killua's surprise. Killua says he managed to score tickets to Hisoka's next match, despite the tickets being incredibly sought after and expensive.

On their way there, he explains Hisoka's match history and prowess at Heavens Arena, but it just seems to make Gon more excited to fight him. However, as they're about to enter the elevator up, Wing steps out of it and stops the boys, saying that Gon isn't allowed to go because watching Hisoka's fight would count as studying Nen. Gon complies, and once Wing leaves, Killua says he'll tape the match for Gon to watch later in his room.

Kastro & Hisoka HXH 99 EP40

Kastro meeting Killua for the first time

Killua stops at the concession stand and catches a short interview with Kastro, Hisoka's opponent, on the TV screen nearby. He decides to visit Kastro to check him out. He sneaks by the guard on Kastro's floor and approaches Kastro in his room, whom he can see through the crack in his doorway. However, when he arrives and looks inside, Kastro appears behind him in the hallway, confusing Killua.

Kastro addresses Killua by name, saying he enjoys getting to know his rivals. Despite Killua trying to sneak up on him, Kastro speaks amicably with him and gives him some advice. Killua says he's impressed by Kastro and asks him how he appeared in his room and the hallway so quickly. Kastro says he can't tell him, but he'll see if he watches his next match. He bids farewell to Killua and retreats into his room, saying they'll meet again at the Battle Olympia, but Killua is certain he doesn't want to fight anymore and won't be there.

Kastro attacking Hisoka

Kastro attacks Hisoka

Later, Cocco announces Kastro and Hisoka's fight as the two stand in the ring, and Killua watches from the stands. As the match beings, Kastro attacks Hisoka, and Hisoka dodges, but suddenly Kastro appears in front of him and knocks him back, to both Hisoka and Killua's surprise. Machi watches from far up in the stands, but quickly leaves.
