Overview[]
Gon and Killua continue playing, but some more experienced players steal the card they won. Members of the Phantom Troupe make game plans.
Synopsis[]
Shizuku waits by herself outside of a cabin. Eventually, Shalnark comes out and apologizes for him and Kortopi taking so long. A man they had tied up inside appears severely beaten, and Shalnark explains how they were able to obtain some rare cards from him. Shizuku asks if Shalnark thinks he'll be able to clear the game, and Shalnark says he will as long as they use their personal methods.
At a trade shop in Antokiba, Killua trades in four Galgaida cards in exchange for 120,000. While out in public talking about their newly earned money and Sword of Truth card, the boys notice other people watching them and realize they've likely become targets after winning the tournament. The people start following them and are not subtle about it, which amuses the boys. Killua assures Gon that even though they don't have any spell cards themselves, he believes he knows a way they can protect their cards from spell cards used on them.
One of the men following the boys, Motaricke, hides behind a tree, feeling bad about trying to steal from two happy children but needing the money. He plans to use a Thief card he acquired to steal one card from the boys' collections randomly. He jumps out and confronts Gon and Killua, claiming he won't hurt them if they hand over their Sword of Truth. Killua brushes him off, completely unintimidated, and the two boys turn to keep walking away. Motaricke summons his book and uses Thief on Killua, but the card fails, as Thief works by stealing a card from its designated slot, and Killua stores it in his free slot instead. After Motarick's failure, Arka approaches, intending to use Pickpocket to steal from Killua's free slot, but his card fails as well, as Killua didn't actually place Sword of Truth in his binder at all and has nothing in his free slot. Arka then targets Gon with another Pickpocket card, but only steals a Rock card from him and doesn't turn a profit at all.
Degiro steps up and has already used Clairvoyance to view Killua's book and Peek to check Gon's free slots. He intends to use Mug to steal the exact card he wants from Gon, but before he can activate it, Gon darts forward and snatches it from Degiro's hand. However, he immediately gives Degiro his card back, but warns that he'll take it for real if Degiro tries that again. Killua warns him that Gon is a professional Hunter, and although Degiro considers trying to use his card again, he ultimately decides not to.
As Gon and Killua continue walking through town, they plan to obtain defensive spell cards for protection in the future. They are interrupted when a group of stronger players comes out and surrounds them. Killua identifies that they're probably Pros at the game. They steal Killua's Sword of Truth and leave. Gon and Killua plan to head to Masadora next to get spell cards of their own. Despite just being robbed, Gon remains very upbeat and excited at the idea of getting to use spells himself.
The two stock up before leaving the town and purchase a simple map card. The map doesn't tell them much, so they return to the trade shop to speak with the Antokiba Trade Shop NPC, who accepts 3,000 in exchange for the location of Masadora and the route to get there. The shop NPC warns them of bandits and monsters that they'll likely run into along the way, which only excites Gon and Killua.
The two quickly leave town, but are stopped by Biscuit. She asks if she can join them and tries to appear cute and shy to win their favor. However, Killua refuses, saying she'd just get in their way, and Biscuit is internally enraged, swearing to herself to ruin their friendship. She pleads with them to wait for her, but they have already started walking away.
In Rubicuta, Shalnark explains the basics of Greed Island that he had learned to Shizuku and Kortopi. He also explains that, based on his findings, it's possible that Greed Island isn't actually in virtual reality, but rather taking place somewhere in the real world. If his suspicions are correct, then he believes there may be a way for them to take home as much treasure as they can, not just the three designated items of their choosing that the game promises to reward. This gets Shizuku's attention, and she happily agrees to help Shalnark collect cards. They agree to start by finding either Eye of God or Analysis to aid them and head to Masadora, and hopefully unite with Phinks and the others.
Elsewhere, Feitan knocks out Latarza, and he and Phinks look through his cards. They agree to split up for a while and meet in Masadora in a week's time. They also have a contest to see who can kill the most players, but Feitan reminds Phinks to steal their cards before killing them. As he says this, Latarza dies on the ground, and his stuff disappears with him.
Elsewhere, Hisoka gets a phone call from Chrollo.
