Synopsis[]

Chap 134 - Killua telling Gon they should buy a map

Killua telling Gon they should buy a map

At a shop in Antokiba, Gon and Killua sell four "Gargaida" cards and earn Jenny Symbol 2011120,000. Gon suggests buying food and water so they can head to Masadora as soon as possible, but Killua tells him that they still need a map. The two return to the shop and decide whether they should buy the detailed or empty map. Gon opts for the latter since it will be more fun to find locations on their own. They pay Jenny Symbol 201130,000 to the shopkeeper for information on Masadora, and he gives them specific directions, but warns them about bandits and monsters. This excites the two as they make their way toward the city.

But right as they begin their journey, the young girl who was spying on them earlier after listening to Nickes' offer approaches and asks if she can join them. After Killua rejects her and says that she would just slow them down, the girl does her best to hold back her anger while still begging them to let her tag along.

Chap 134 - Shalnark testing the game's mechanics

Shalnark testing the game's mechanics

Having entered the game, Shalnark, Shizuku, and Kortopi have made their way south to Rubicuta. Shalnark has been gathering information and observed that the 100 townspeople they interacted with were all NPCs. He summons his book and takes out a "Rock" card, also holding out one that Kortopi copied. He utters "Gain" and while the real card changes into a rock, Kortopi's copy doesn't. He surmises that it's either beyond the game's programming or the game has an anti-cheating system to prevent such things. He reminds them that Shizuku's Blinky was able to vacuum up things brought from outside the game, or things like the rock, but not special items (even if they were inanimate). He guesses that it's also to prevent people from using Nen abilities to collect cards and items too easily. Shizuku wonders what his point is, and Shalnark says that there could be another possibility, hypothesizing that the game doesn't involve virtual reality, but is happening somewhere in the real world.

Shalnark tells them that all of it can be proven or explained with Nen, surmising that the NPCs are dolls being manipulated or conjured by the game master. He guesses that key items are also conjured, reminding them that Kortopi can't duplicate other abilities and Blinky can't vacuum up things made with Nen. He says that he initially became suspicious when Feitan and Phinks' bodies disappeared completely, adding that if the game were really taking place in virtual reality, only their souls would have entered the game and their bodies would have stayed behind. He continues by saying that the software doesn't involve playing the game, but is simply used to teleport the players to the island. He looks at their empty map and thinks that the island is as big as the Kotoritana Republic, adding that there is probably more than one game master.

Chap 134 - Feitan and Phinks kill Latarza

Latarza killed by Phinks and Feitan

Shizuku again wonders what his point is, and Shalnark reminds her of what they learned the reward was for clearing the game. Kortopi jumps in and says that they will be allowed to take back three specified slot cards and use them in real life. Shalnark explains that the items will work outside the island and that they don't need to actually clear the game if it's taking place somewhere in the real world. He pulls out a "Toraemon" card and says that they may be able to steal everything. Shizuku thinks that it may be worth trying, and Shalnark says that they should find out which items are the most valuable, telling them that they need to get hold of an "Eye of God" or "Analysis" card, and then find Phinks and Feitan. Farther north, Phinks and Feitan take a cheap map and several spell cards from a player they killed (the one who first confronted Gon and Killua). They agree to split up and then meet back in Masadora after one week. Phinks says that it's a contest to see how many players they can kill, but Feitan reminds him to take their cards first.
