Hisoka × Alliance × Spider Hunting (ヒソカ×同盟×クモ退治, Hisoka × Doumei × Kumo Taiji) is the 54th episode of the original Hunter × Hunter anime. It first aired on January 27th, 2001.
Overview[]
Kurapika captures Uvogin with his chains and runs away. Uvogin is left with Dalzollene and the others as Kurapika meets with Hisoka, who promised to give information on the Phantom Troupe. Dalzollene tells the Mafia to get Uvogin, but Phantom Troupe members arrive, killing him and freeing Uvogin. Leorio shows Gon and Killua his Ten, which is the only Nen technique he knows.
Synopsis[]
At the Phantom Troupe's hideout, Hisoka tells Chrollo he needs to meet someone in the city and asks for his permission to leave. Chrollo allows it, and Hisoka leaves.

Kurapika, in a car with Basho, Melody, Squala, and a tied up Uvogin, informs Dalzollene over the phone that he has captured a member of the Phantom Troupe. Uvogin insists that Kurapika's chains won't be able to hold him and that Kurapika should kill him before it's too late. Uvogin is immediately surprised by Kurapika's power, as Kurapika constricts the chains around Uvogin's body so tightly to the point that Uvogin passes out. Elsewhere, Machi informs her fellow Spiders that she will be able to follow Uvogin and the people who captured him using a Nen thread she attached to Uvogin's body.
Melody informs the others in the car with her that another group is tailing them as another car appears in the distance behind them. The others in the car manage to find the needle and thread that Machi attached to Uvogin and quickly remove it from his body. However, by this time, the car behind them containing some of the Spiders had already caught up to them. Right as the Spiders' car closes in, Owl jumps onto the car and uses his Fun Fun Cloth to shrink the Spiders' car down, and Kurapika's crew loses sight of it as they drive away.

Off the road, Owl talks to most of the Spiders who had been in the car impressed that they could escape before he shrunk the car down. He picks up the tiny Fun Fun Cloth with the car and Nobunaga, who could not make it out in time, in it. Several of the other Shadow Beasts appear to back Owl up.
When Uvogin comes to, he is tied down in the basement of one of the hotels where the Nostrade Family is staying, with the Nostrade bodyguards surrounding him. Dalzollene uses his sword to threaten Uvogin for information, but Uvogin remains unfazed. Dalzollene channels his aura through his sword and stabs right into Uvogin's shoulder wound left by Rabid Dog. However, Uvogin lies calmly while this happens, as Dalzollene's sword can barely puncture him at all. Instead, Uvogin agrees to give them the information they want, but warns them that they should let him go if they don't want to be killed. He tells them that the Spiders never got the chance to steal the goods from the auction, and the group is shocked to hear this.

Kurapika confronts Uvogin about the deaths of their colleagues at the auction and is unhappy with Uvogin's carefree response. Kurapika then punches Uvogin in the face, using his hand holding Baise's bracelet, and leaves Uvogin with a bloody nose.
Dalzollene instructs the other bodyguards to depart, and they leave Uvogin tied down in the room for the other members of the Mafia Community to deal with. Dalzollene speaks with one of the other Mafia Community members on the phone about Uvogin and is in turn informed about the death of all the Shadow Beasts.
In their hotel room, Leorio tries to show off his aura to Killua and Gon, who inform him that he is actually using Ten. Leorio gives up for now and heads out for the night, leaving the other two boys alone in the hotel room. Leorio hopes to see Kurapika while he is out, but never does.
At the hotel, Kurapika receives a text on his phone from Hisoka, confirming their rendezvous for that night. Kurapika asks Dalzollene if he can leave his post for two hours, which Dalzollene allows. Dalzollene also allows the other bodyguards to go on break and takes over watching Uvogin. At an abandoned building, Kurapika meets up with Hisoka.

Kurapika asks Hisoka for information on the Phantom Troupe, which Hisoka provides. He also informs Kurapika that he is interested in taking down the leader of the Spiders and proposes an alliance to Kurapika, even offering to tell him seven of the Spiders' abilities if he agrees.
Back at the hotel, Dalzollene lets a group of Mafia Community members into the basement to retrieve Uvogin. Dalzollene is promptly killed by one of them, and they are revealed to be Shalnark, Shizuku, Phinks, Nobunaga, and Machi. When they release Uvogin and remove the nerve gas and poison from his body, he immediately lets out his rage, swearing vengeance on the people who put him there. Elsewhere, Melody receives a notification on her phone. Dalzollene, not actually dead yet, takes on the Spiders in his last few moments to buy the other bodyguards some additional time to get there.
Kurapika, who is still negotiating with Hisoka, gets a call from Melody informing him what has happened to Dalzollene and Uvogin. Before Kurapika can leave, Hisoka proposes a give-and-take relationship with Kurapika. Kurapika tells Hisoka to meet him there again the following night and leaves. As the other Spiders are making their escape from the hotel, Uvogin says he needs to stay to settle his score with Kurapika.
