He was seen wearing a necked, long-sleeved shirt with beige pants and light brown shoes. His face was long in the 1999 anime adaptation and seemed more akin to a canine's.
Personality[]
He was a crass and sadistic individual who was believed to enjoy torturing his victims due to how his ability worked.[5]
Plot[]
Yorknew City arc[]
As Uvogin continues to massacre dozens of Mafia members in the Gordeau Desert, four Shadow Beasts (including Rabid Dog) sent by the Ten Dons arrive to confront the Underground Auction thieves. They first appear in front of the Nostrade Family bodyguards, with Rabid Dog noting that they aren't just petty thieves and that they should let the experts handle it. As the four approach Uvogin, he recognizes them and asks where they moved the auction items. Rabid Dog asks in turn what he did with the auction attendees, and Uvogin quickly answers that they killed them, asking again where the auction items are.[4]
After Worm's punch is ineffective, and the Shadow Beast is forced to drag Uvogin underground, he warns the Spider that he can either die underground or be killed by his comrades. As the other three ready their auras and leap toward him, Uvogin unleashes his Big Bang Impact and leaves no trace of Worm except his arm, creating an enormous crater in the earth and forcing the other Shadow Beasts to leap back. They soon recognize his Spider tattoo and that he's a member of the Phantom Troupe.[5]
Uvogin asks which of them wants to die next, but the three waste no time in confronting him. As Porcupine keeps Uvogin busy with his hair manipulation, Rabid Dog seizes his chance and chews off a piece of flesh from Uvogin's left shoulder. Feitan is left surprised that both hair and teeth were able to break Uvogin's skin, and Shalnark praises their discipline and Nen. As Uvogin tries to punch Leech with Porcupine still on his fist, Rabid Dog again seizes his chance and chews off a piece of flesh from Uvogin's left thigh, smiling as he tells him that he is making it too easy. Rabid Dog dodges Uvogin's punch, and the Spider suddenly begins to wobble, eventually falling to the ground.[5]
Rabid Dog reveals that he uses a neurotoxin for his fangs that will paralyze him from the neck down, allowing him to feel fear and pain. Machi points out that Rabid Dog would have won if the toxin had been lethal, and Shalnark guesses that he enjoys torture. After Leech lays his eggs in Uvogin's shoulder and Uvogin kills him by chewing off a portion of his head, he tells Rabid Dog that he isn't the only one who can bite, declaring that he only needs to be able to move from his neck up to kill them all. He suddenly blows something out of his mouth toward Rabid Dog, who initially thinks it's a bullet and then realizes it's a piece of Leech's skull. Rabid Dog holds out his hand to block the projectile, but it easily pierces his hand and then his skull, killing him instantly.[5]
Abilities & Powers[]
As a Shadow Beast, Rabid Dog was very influential within the Mafia Community. He was also a capable fighter, one of the best serving under the Ten Dons, since he was chosen as one of their personal bodyguards. However, he was no match for Uvogin. Rabid Dog fought by enhancing his speed and teeth to tear off chunks of flesh from his opponents. By doing so, he injected powerful neurotoxins capable of incapacitating voluntary muscles from the neck down, leaving his opponents aware of the pain and fear. He fought using a hit-and-run style, attacking and then distancing himself from his opponent. When facing a foe with other Shadow Beasts, he waited for his comrades to distract the enemy so that he could attack unnoticed, thus showing moderate skills in analysis and strategic thinking.[5]
Poisonous Bite: Rabid Dog's filed teeth injected a neurotoxin that made his victims unable to move anything below the bitten point. The substance was very powerful since two bites could quickly subdue Uvogin[5] despite the latter resisting sleeping gas. Hours after injection, the efficacy of the neurotoxin had not waned.[6]
Enhanced Speed and Reflexes: Rabid Dog was very fast, effortlessly striking Uvogin and then backing away before the Phantom Troupe member could retaliate.[5]
Immense Biting Power: Rabid Dog was able to bite off Uvogin's skin,[5] an impressive feat given that even anti-tank missiles could barely scratch it.[4] He was also swift to do so and seized his chance after his comrades provided a distraction.[5]
Advanced Poison Resistance: Rabid Dog was likely immune to the neurotoxin secreted by his teeth.
Nen[]
Rabid Dog was an Enhancer*.[2][3] As a Shadow Beast, he was one of the ten best Nen users within the Mafia Community, making him a fearsome opponent. His abilities also worked well in conjunction with those of other Shadow Beasts. Rabid Dog was also fairly proficient at Zetsu since he managed to get near the Nostrade bodyguards with only Melody and possibly Kurapika noticing.[4]

Rabit Dog used his Nen to make himself faster and increase the power of his jaws and the sharpness of his teeth. Although this combination would have been enough to injure or kill most opponents significantly, he mainly resorted to it to paralyze them with the neurotoxins in his fangs.[5] |
