"I remember it... this is... death. An enemy indefinitely stronger than me... and the terror I feel facing it"

— Frog to himself in Vs. Hagya's Squad: Part 3

Frog (カエル, Kaeru) was a Chimera Ant resembling an anthropomorphic frog. He served as an officer in Leol's squad.[1]

Appearance[]

Frog wore a simple dark-colored robe and small red rectangular glasses.

Personality[]

Frog was confident and had an air of authority, as well as that of being an elderly individual, given his choice of the personal pronoun "washi" (わし, 儂), which is often stereotypically used to represent old characters in fiction.

Background[]

Little is known about Frog's former life prior to being a Chimera Ant; not even he himself knew much, if anything, about it. However, he recalled having felt an extreme sense of overwhelming dread as he died, presumably at the hands of Chimera Ant Queen or her underlings.[2]

Plot[]

Chimera Ant arc[]

The Chimera Ant Queen summons the Squadron Leaders deep into her room within the Chimera Ant Nest. Frog is among those who is summoned as he reads a newspaper.[3] At a later date, Frog, Baro, Rhino, and various other Chimera Ants confront Gon, Killua, and Kite in the NGL forest, where he gives the group three choices:[1]

  1. Decide an order in which they can fight them.
  2. Try and escape.
  3. Give up and surrender to them.[1]

Presumably, if they chose option 1, they would choose a representative from their side to fight them individually with a small chance of survival. If they chose option 2, that would annoy them, and they would soon catch and torture them. Finally, if they chose option 3, which he doesn't recommend, it would make the previous choice far less annoying. So Kite and the group choose option 1. Gon and Killua both kill their respective opponents Baro[1] and Rhino, agitating Frog and so he volunteers to fight against Kite. However, before he can make a move, Kite uses his Crazy Slots ability, summoning a giant scythe that, in an instant, slices off Frog's head, causing him to remember the feeling of death.[2]

Abilities & Powers[]

Frog, like all Chimera Ants, is stronger than normal humans, and being a Chimera Ant officer, he's presumably stronger than the soldiers below him.[1]

Frog Physiology: Thanks to his frog genes, Frog was able to jump several meters high.[4]
