Momoze Hui Guo Rou (モモゼ=ホイコーロ, Momoze Hoikōro) was the Twelfth Prince of the Kakin Empire and the daughter of her father's seventh wife, Sevanti.[1]

Appearance Edit

Momoze was a young girl with delicate features and long, fair hair worn in an elaborate hairstyle.[1]

Momoze projected the image of a calm and gentle girl. She did not appear to resent her mother for her harsh words towards her or to fear for her own safety, although she pities Sevanti and her brother Marayam for lacking the ability of becoming Kings.[2]

Dark Continent Expedition arcEdit

Momoze makes her first appearance as all of the other Princes are introduced and is shown stitching a cloth.[1] After applying for the position, Momoze hires Hanzo to become her bodyguard for the trip to the Dark Continent.[3] Some time later, she participates to the ceremony on the eve of the voyage and waves to the crowd.[4] During the party held on the 1st deck of the ship, Momoze is seen waving to the party patrons.[5]

Unbeknownst to her, her Spirit Beast attacks Woble's bodyguards.[6] After the ceremony, her mother Queen Sevanti removes bodyguards from her escort and assigns them to her brother Marayam. Despite Queen Sevanti's request, Nipaper and Bladge express their desire to stay, while she doesn't mind and Momoze suggests the remaining two relax in a nearby room, but they decline. While knitting, Momoze thinks to herself she pities her Mother and Brother as they're people with no capacity to become King and wonders why she feels so tired despite not doing anything, her Spirit Beast sitting behind her.[2]

Chap 368 - Momoze death

Momoze suffocated to death

As Momoze rests in her room, one of her bodyguards plans to assassinate her.[7] She is killed shortly afterwards, due to asphyxiation while in her sleep. Hanzo suspects a clone created by a Nen user, leading to all her remaining bodyguards (including Benjamin's private soldier) being processed. By her unusual sleep schedule, Kurapika deduces her Nen beast was behind one of the attacks on Woble's bodyguards, and the reason it did not defend her was she had run out of aura.[8]

Abilities & PowersEdit

Chap 361 - Momoze's Nen beast

Momoze's Guardian Spirit Beast

Despite being a member of Kakin's royal family, according to Tubeppa, Momoze has no real political influence or power.[9] She appears to be good at knitting.[2]

Like the rest of her siblings, Momoze has received an egg from which a Nen Beast hatched to protect her.[1] As a parasitic-type ability, she has no control over it. The Nen beast is made out of aura, thus only Nen users can see and hear it.[6] Momoze herself is unaware of its existence.[2] The Nen beast is subjected to two rule-like instincts: it is unable to fight other Guardian Spirit Beasts as well as to directly attack the host of one.[9]

Momoze's Nen beast takes the appearance of an enormous mouse-like creature with jagged teeth and two circles resembling eyes on its forehead. It can phase through walls and is sentient enough to react to non-verbal responses to its questions, for example by nodding. The Nen beast will ask any target if they are "free".[6] Should they reply "no", a miniature replica of the Nen beast will appear on their shoulder and keep pestering them until they reply affirmatively.[2] The replica can be seen and heard only by the target, and no one else.[6] If the target states they are "free", the Nen beast takes control of their mind by implanting a small, spider-like teddy bear in their ear and force them to kill those around them, seemingly with a preference for bodyguards. A manipulated target will respond to all questions saying that, since they were free, "it" asked them a favor. The spider-like Nen beast feeds off not Momoze's aura, but the target's. Should it be unable to do so, it leaves the host's body, freeing them from the control, and is capable of fleeing at high speed.[2]

Due to the conditions that trigger it, this Sacred Guardian Beast can manipulate only Nen users.[2] However, taking control of a single person puts enough strain on Momoze's stamina that she will be forced to sleep right afterwards, and the Sacred Guardian Beast will become inactive due to not having enough aura to feed off of.[8]
