HxH2011 EP39 Nostrade bodyguard applicants at the mansion

The Nostrade bodyguard applicants

After being informed of the job offer by the Sengi Guild's agent, Kurapika proceeds to the mansion and waits outside the gates until a butler allows him to enter. He is then led into a room with five other applicants, where their interviewer gives them two tests. The first is to retrieve an item from the list, while the second is to defend themselves against eleven assailants.[1]

When the second test suddenly starts, the six applicants fight against eleven black figures using guns and swords. Eventually, Kurapika and the applicants can determine that Shachmono Tocino and Squala, current Nostrade employees, were playing the role of infiltrators.[3]

Once the five applicants each manage to retrieve an item from the list, the head bodyguard Dalzollene introduces himself and confirms that they are all hired as bodyguards, leading them to a room where they are briefed on their next mission and told to be wary of everyone who approaches the boss. As Dalzollene takes them to meet the boss, Baise notices a framed sculpture of a man on display. Dalzollene explains that he's a former bodyguard who made assumptions and in doing so put the team and their boss in danger, informing the new recruits that they are his replacement. At the end of the hallway, Dalzollene introduces the bodyguards to Neon, who is seen sitting on an extravagant bed in her room.[4]

Greed Island arc[]

Killua contacts Kurapika at the mansion to inform him that the Phantom Troupe may have hired a Nen exorcist to remove the Judgment Chain around Chrollo's heart, but Kurapika is already aware of the possibility. He is then informed by his co-worker Melody that their boss has summoned him. Walking past Neon as she wonders why her ability no longer works, Kurapika sees his slovenly boss in his messy room. Light anxiously wonders what he's supposed to do and begs Kurapika for advice. Although Kurapika assures him that he will take care of everything, Light lashes out at him and orders him to return Neon to the way she was, covering his face as he wonders why it happened.[5]

Trivia[]

  • The former Nostrade bodyguard transformed into a framed sculpture and displayed on one of the mansion's walls[4] is possibly a reference to the Star Wars character Han Solo encased in Carbonite.
