Seiko Hui Guo Rou (セイコ=ホイコーロ, Sēko Hoikōro) is the Sixth Queen of the Kakin Empire and sixth wife of Nasubi Hui Guo Rou. She gave him twin daughters, Kacho and Fugetsu Hui Guo Rou.[1]
Appearance[]
Seiko is a middle-aged woman with short, fair hair that curls sideways.[2]
Personality[]
Seiko categorically refused to answer every question when interrogated on the allegation that she was plotting an assassination on both Woble and Barrigen, scowling at the detectives.[2] She reveals a much more mellow side when talking to her daughter Kacho, bursting into tears when the latter claims that the succession contest is not something to be feared, but to be fought with honor.[3] She enthusiastically expressed awe for Melody's musical skills.[4]
Plot[]
Succession Contest arc[]
Seiko refuses to answer any questions from an investigator dispatched by the Supreme Magistrate of the Black Whale regarding the alleged claims sent by Sakata that she's been an accomplice to Barrigen's murder and is plotting to assassinate Prince Woble. She remains on her stance even after the investigator explains there shouldn't be any court records arising from their conversation, preferring to endure the three days of monitoring instead.[2]
A few days later, her daughter Kacho suggests they organize a music show as the hosts of the next banquet. The queen approves and resolves to ask for King Nasubi's permission. Before they part, Kacho shares some hopeful words which move her mother.[3]
On Wednesday, Seiko welcomes back her daughter Fugetsu when the latter is taken back to her room. She then returns to Room 1010, where she and the detective listen to Melody's interpretation of Hyle's Requiem. She showers the Hunter in praise and excitedly promises to take care of broadcasting whatever she will play at the banquet on Sunday.[4]
Later after the supposed “death” of one of her daughters and her remaining daughter being in custody, Seiko’s more cunning and devious side is shown. This is seen when after receiving news about the twin’s escape attempt, Seiko immediately began planning and dealing with the fallout, calculating that the loss of Kacho was a tough blow due to her role as Fugetsu’s “shield” and began making plans to ensure Fugetsu’s survival and ascension to the throne.[5]
Seiko also privately admitted her dislike for her daughter Kacho due to her intelligence and perceptiveness.[5]

This particular issue arose when their mother Queen Sevanti sent all of Momoze's Hunters and servants to Marayam. Since we only got to see 4/5 of Momoze's Hunters and 2/3 of her servants by that time, we can't say for certain which prince the marked characters initially belonged to. |
