Shizuku has short, layered black hair. She wears a black turtleneck and jeans, accessorized with black-framed glasses and a necklace bearing St. Peter's Cross, similar to the insignia on the back of Chrollo Lucilfer's trench coat.

Shizuku also wears a pair of earrings ornamented with a reversed cross that are usually covered by her hair. Above her sweater sleeves, she wears a bracelet on each wrist. Shizuku has a spider tattoo, symbolizing her position as Troupe member #8, on her lower-left abdomen.[2]

Shizuku is very level-headed, hardly ever betraying any signs of emotion, and remaining perfectly calm even while announcing that according to her fortune, she would die within two weeks. She does not mince her words, which causes some of her remarks to upset even her fellow Spiders. She forgetful to the point of short-term memory loss; sometimes she forgets people's names, or even if she had met them at all. She can be air-headed, which often causes opponents to underestimate her combat abilities. Shizuku believes in the rules that Chrollo set forth for the Phantom Troupe and is against members fighting one another.

Not much is known about Shizuku's past. She seems to have originated from Meteor City as well as several members of the Phantom Troupe.[5] She replaced an unnamed member of the Phantom Troupe after he was killed by Silva Zoldyck three years prior to the events in Yorknew[6][7] and became Troupe member #8.[2] At one point, she was almost killed while trying to spectate Feitan's Nen abilities.[8]

Shizuku, using her conjured vacuum cleaner, cleaning up all the traces

On August 31st, Bonolenov and the other Phantom Troupe members meet at an undisclosed area in Yorknew City. The leader Chrollo Lucilfer announces to the Troupe that the entire loot of the Underground Auction is their target.[6] The following day, she pickpockets a bystander to participate in a conditional auction and win a diamond by arm-wrestling Gon. Despite using her weak hand, she proves to be a tough contender. Franklin and Feitan prevent her from trying again, since the Underground Auction is about to begin.[9] When the doors of the auction close, she waits in the hallway to get rid of anyone who manages to escape Franklin's slaughter. She quickly kills Ivlenkov and Baise with her conjured vacuum cleaner before cleaning up any trace of the carnage that just occurred.[10] The Spiders leave the building via a hot-air balloon and report that the items of the auction are missing. Chrollo orders them to attack the Mafia to lure a group of powerful Nen users called "Shadow Beasts", suspecting them to be involved.[11]

They land in the Gordeau Desert, where, seeing the arm of mobsters waiting for them, Shizuku hopes she wil not have to clean up. While Uvogin confronts the four Shadow Beasts, she sits around and plays cards with Shalnark and Machi.[12] She covers her ears in time to avoid being defeaned by Uvogin's scream. After the fight, she claims she can remove the poison from his body, but not the leeches.[13] Before she can do so, however, Uvogin is snatched by the "Chain Dude". Shizuku, Machi, Feitan, Shalnark and Nobunaga steal a car to give chase, but are forced to abandon it when Owl shrinks it with his Fun Fun Cloth. Counting the remaining Shadow Beasts, Shizuku determines the "Chain Dude" is not one of them.[14] The Spiders then wipe out the group and take Owl captive.[15] They then intercept Dalzollene's call and find out that the Nostrade Family is keeping Uvogin prisoner in the Hotel Beitacle.[16]

Shizuku, Nobunaga, Shalnark, Machi, and Phinks disguise themselves and free their comrade. Shizuku sucks the toxin out of him.[17] His roar alerts his captor, who flee, causing Shizuku to comment he is too loud.[16] Later she's waiting for further instructions from Chrollo until he orders to go on a rampage in the city.[18] She goes along with Franklin and kills several Mafia guards.[19] Soon later, Kortopi creates a fake body of hers, along with five other fake member's corpses, so the Mafia believes she has been killed.[20]

Shizuku's fortune

Given the situation, after Chrollo gives Nobunaga's his prediction, Shizuku asks for hers. She deduces that if they stay in Yorknew City, she will die the next week and Pakunoda and Shalnark would also die one week later.[21] After Hisoka's prediction, revealing even more deaths and that he revealed her abilities to the Chain User;[22] Chrollo forms two groups so one can chase the Chain Guy and the other stays on their hideout. Shizuku goes along with Chrollo, Kortopi, Nobunaga, Machi, and Pakunoda to chase the Chain Guy.[23]

Shizuku, Machi, and Chrollo confront Gon and Killua

As they go on the pursuit, they sense two people following them. Shizuku stays behind with Machi and Chrollo and eventually confronts Gon and Killua, who replaced Kurapika as one of the chasers before being discovered. They decide to restrain them and wait for the other members in a hotel.[24] As soon Pakunoda, Nobunaga, and Kortopi arrives, they are ambushed by Kurapika[25] and the leader gets caught.[26] The other members arrive so they decide what to do with the hostages. Nobunaga is willing to fight Phinks if he gets in his way but Shizuku knocks him unconscious stating that members of the Troupe must not fight between each others, even though she agrees with Nobunaga on not wanting the leader to be killed.[27] In the end, Shizuku waits for Pakunoda's return so she could tell them everything that happen between the Leader and the Chain Guy.[28] She mourns Pakunoda's death.

Greed Island arcEdit

After the events that occurred in Yorknew, Shizuku witnesses Feitan and Phinks get transported into the Greed Island game they stole from Battera. Later Shalnark invites both Shizuku and Kortopi to play the game with him and states that their goal is not to clear the game.[29] They study how the island's system works, to which they found out that the special items in the game can't be inhaled by Blinky because they are created using Nen, but it can inhale the common inanimate items as well as Kortopi's ability can reproduce the items of the game but they can't be turned into cards this lead Shalnark to the conclusion that Greed Island is a real-life island and they plan to enter in it by the real world in order to steal all cards of the game without the risk of losing them.[30] She is also present when the Phantom Troupe enters the game illegally to reach their goal, but Razor used the Game Master-only spell card "Eliminate" on them sending all Spiders to a random place within the Azian continent.[31]

She also appears when all the members reunited again and they discover that their leader Chrollo Lucilfer is on the list of Greed Island players, but since he can't use Nen because of the Kurapika's chain it sounds unreasonable. Shalnark although understand that, like them, Chrollo reached the island through real world and he was expelled by Razor like them then he sent another one to play the game in order to find an exorcist who is playing there and told him to participate under his name making the Troupe know his plan. Then the Phantom Troupe decide to find the exorcist themselves and just in that moment Hisoka appears to them and reveals that he is the one appointed by Chrollo (since he was a fake member of the Troupe and the other Kurapika chain's rule was to not have any contact with other members). The Phantom Troupe annoyed by the fact they know Hisoka's plan, but they let him be, as they're confident that Chrollo will kill him instead. Hisoka departs from them telling that he will use a Contact (G.I card) if he finds some information.[32]

Chimera Ant arcEdit

The Phantom Troupe arrive at Meteor City

The Phantom Troupe arrive at Meteor City

After a stray Chimera Ant named Zazan takes over a palace in Meteor City, Shizuku appears with some of the other members of the Phantom Troupe in order to eradicate the threat to their hometown. They eventually went to a small city where Zazan made her nest.[33] When inside, they decided to find the queen and whoever kills her becomes the interim boss. They go separate ways and she finds herself in a fight against Pike.[34]

After killing Pike, Shizuku stands next to him

Unknowingly, she also has confetti stuck on her clothes so that Kalluto could listen to their battles.[34] At first Shizuku was reading Pike's movements and stands on the defensive. After some irritation, Pike launches his ace and traps Shizuku using his Love Shower attack. Confident to have trapped her, Pike tries to take her to Zazan but Shizuku quickly makes an opening on the web using her clothes and her vacuum. When Pike let his guard down, she then escapes and lands several numbers of strikes on the Chimera Ant. Shizuku stated that she figured out his movements[2] and uses Blinky to suck all the blood coming from his wounds. Pike counters by using his eight limbs to cover but it turns out he actually has twenty-nine open wounds and not eight. Blinky eventually sucks up all of Pike's blood and kills him. After winning, she then realized that if Pike used his web to cover the wounds, her attack would have been useless. She is the last one to arrive to Zazan's duel against Feitan and was asked about her new look. When Phinks asks if she lost the fight she snaps slightly that she won the fight and comments that Feitan looks sluggish.[35]

While the Phantom Troupe runs away from Feitan attack she says to Kalluto they once tried to watch Feitan's Nen powers, but were almost killed. She is seen after that killing the rest of the mutated Chimera Ants.[8]

Succession Contest arcEdit

Chap 377 - Spiders moving out

The Spiders move out

Shizuku boards the Black Whale and begins searching for Hisoka in Tier 5. On the fourth day of voyage, the Phantom Troupe gathers, commenting on their unsuccessful hunt. When the Cha-R Family claims their table for themselves, the Troupe leaves without a fight. Chrollo states they will meet next when one of them has taken Hisoka's head, then they split up. Due to their disadvantage against Bungee Gum, Bonolenov and Shizuku offer to team up with the leader, who accepts on the condition that he will be the one to kill the magician. They both plan to disguise themselves, Bonolenov through Cantabile: Metamorphosen; however, since he does not have a mind for strategy, he asks Chrollo to tell him what to transform into. When the latter reveals he is no longer able to use Lovely Ghostwriter, Shizuku comments that his book is like a Death Note, which prompts Bonolenov to chide her.[36] Their group successfully gains admission from Tier 5 to Tier 4, taking the central accessway.[37]

Abilities & PowersEdit

Due to Shizuku being born in Meteor City, her existence is not recorded in any database, which makes obtaining information about her nearly impossible.[5] Shizuku is in charge of hiding traces of the Troupe's activity and has a very unique ability, which allows her to delete all traces of the Troupe's activities. She is also a skilled pickpocket.[9] She can single-handedly overpower powerful Nen users and experts bodyguards like Ivlenkov and Baise[10] and win a battle with relative ease against a Chimera Ant Officer, Pike.[2]

Defend x And x Attack

Shizuku arm wrestles with Gon

Enhanced Strength: Shizuku ranks twelfth in strength among the members when it comes to arm-wrestling.[4] Nonetheless, she forced Gon to use his full strength in their contest. The boy defeated her with difficulty, despite her using her non-dominant hand.[9] She was able to kill Ivlenkov and Baise with a single swing of her vacuum cleaner,[10] with which she also managed to knock Nobunaga out for some time (although catching him by surprise)[27] as well as to draw blood from Pike.[35]

Enhanced Speed and Reflexes: Shizuku is at least as fast as any member of the Phantom Troupe as seen during the pursuit of the "Chain Dude"[24] and the speed at which she jumped out of a car when Owl landed on it.[14] She was capable of covering her ears between the insants in which Uvogin screamed and the sound reached her.[13] In her confrontation with Pike, she managed to avoid his web several times, getting caught only when he unleashed his Love Shower, and still managing to create a gap large enough to allow her to escape.[2] She landed 29 blows on him[35] within few seconds, jumping away from him right after that.[2]

Enhanced Agility: Shizuku can run on the sides of buildings and easily jump horizontally from one to another.[24]

Keen Intellect: Shizuku deciphered the month allegory in Chrollo's fortunes.[21]

Proficient Strategist: Shizuku proved herself to be fairly good at finding an enemy's weak spots in a fight, learning the pattern of their movements before they attack and formulating plans accordingly. Furthermore, she is a quick thinker, as demonstrated when escaping Pike's web. In her battle against him she was able to figure out the speed and range of his web, even noticing that his butt hole twitched twice before shooting.[2] She wounded him in precise spots in order to prevent him from defending himself against her ensuing attack. However, she is a bit absent-minded in combat as well and can't predict every move her opponent could make: after sucking the Chimera Ant's blood, she reckoned that he might have avoided death by wrapping himself in his own web.[35]

Proficient Weapon Specialist: Shizuku's primary method of fighting consists in clubbing the opponent with Blinky.[10] She is capable of landing powerful blows in quick succession.[2]

Shizuku is a Conjurer type. Her Nen ability gives her the power to conjure a vacuum cleaner that sucks in everything except living things and objects made of Nen;[10] nonetheless, she is able to drain the blood from living targets.[35] She uses her Nen abilities to clean up any traces of evidences the group could left behind.[10] Shalnark stated that Shizuku's ability is a rare breed.[21]

The only Nen technique, beside Hatsu, she has been shown using is Gyo. As most of people who mastered it, she focuses her Nen into her eyes so she can see aura and things which would otherwise be invisible.[24]

Shizuku's Nen Type: Conjuration
Type: Conjuration

Blinky (デメちゃん Deme-chan)

Blinky 2011 Shizuku has the ability to conjure a vacuum cleaner she calls Blinky. Blinky can inhale an infinite number of nonliving objects but it can't inhale things that are alive[14] or conjured objects[30] made out of Nen. No object consumed by Blinky can be retrieved except for the last object that was sucked in, and not even Shizuku herself knows where the things sucked in by Blinky go.[14] Her ability is considered to be rare and invaluable to the Troupe. Blinky is often used in order to clean up the evidence of crime scenes (i.e. blood and corpses). She can also use Blinky's abilities to remove foreign materials (such as metals, poison, or gas) from living bodies.[10] In battle, Shizuku uses Blinky as a club and is capable of conjuring it into her hands and dispelling it as she pleases. The teeth protruding from Blinky's mouth are capable of inflicting open wounds; she is able to exsanguinate her opponents by having Blinky suck out the blood from their sores.[35]
