Summary[]

Chap 178 - Killua using Rhythm Echo against Sub

Killua using "Rhythm Echo" against Sub

Sub chases after Killua and wonders why he used an "Accompany" card to leave his comrades, but tells himself that he is completely fine with a one-on-one fight. Killua says to himself that while he has the advantage in physical strength, Sub has much more aura. He adds that the latter is vital to both offense and defense, which means he won't be able to hurt Sub directly. As Killua then plans to test something, Sub unleashes a strong punch and Killua barely dodges it, receiving a scratch on his cheek and realizing that taking a direct strike would be bad. Sub follows up with a kick and another punch, with Killua blocking the latter with his left elbow. He says to himself that while his elbow hurts, the pain to his hands feels like a knife to his brain. Understanding that he can't waste time, he uses "Rhythm Echo" and confuses Sub, who attacks the wrong Killua and leaves himself wide open.

Chap 178 - Sub seeing the power of Killua's yo-yo

Sub seeing the power of Killua's yo-yo

Killua seizes his chance and carries out his first experiment, striking Sub's midsection with Lightning Palm and sending a shock throughout his body. Sent back by the attack, a confused Sub asks if he was hiding a stun gun, and Killua says to himself that while the technique won't knock him out, it will leave him stunned for a few seconds. He then prepares to test his second experiment, pulling out a yo-yo and asking Sub if he's ready. Sub is confused at first, but says to himself that it must be rigged. Killua swings it fast toward Sub's head and he easily dodges it, with the yo-yo slamming into a nearby tree and doing enough damage to make it fall.

Sub can't believe the yo-yo's power and asks what it's made of. Swinging the yo-yo around himself, Killua replies that it's a custom alloy from his brother, adding that it weighs around 50 kilograms. He suddenly slings it toward Sub, who dodges the initial attack but is hit in the face after Killua redirects it. Resting on one knee, Sub realizes that he won't be able to block the yo-yo's power and points out that Killua has (what Sub thinks to be) a stun gun for close range and the yo-yo for long range. He picks up a small rock and conceals it in his hand, saying that he has to get rid of the yo-yo first. He also tells himself that he needs to exploit Killua's weakness of leaving his right side exposed, which he will do once his yo-yo is gone.

Chap 178 - Killua striking Sub with his second yo-yo

Killua striking Sub with his second yo-yo

As Killua swings the yo-yo low toward the ground, Sub jumps up into the air to dodge the attack and quickly hurls the stone toward Killua's shoulder, causing the harness attached to the yo-yo to fly off his arm. Sub seizes his chance after landing and dashes toward Killua, throwing a hard right hook that Killua blocks with his left elbow. He spots the exposed right side and unleashes a hard kick there, causing Killua to grimace in pain. However, as Sub says that Killua probably broke a few ribs, another yo-yo strikes him in the back of his head as Killua is seen swinging it around another nearby tree. Killua then playfully asks if he forgot to mention that he has two yo-yos, surprised to see that Sub is still conscious after the strike.

With his vision blurred, Sub looks up at Killua and asks if he had everything planned out. Killua replies that when Sub kicks, his opposite arm moves up and exposes his own blind spot. He reveals that his habit was a fake-out to get Sub to kick him, that he let go of his first yo-yo because he knew Sub was going to throw something, and that he used "Accompany" because he knew Sub would focus too much on the one-on-one aspect and not pay enough attention to their surroundings. Sub can't believe that Killua was able to set up three traps so quickly, but as Killua replies that the whole thing was a trap, he raises both his yo-yos into the air and slams them down onto Sub's head, sending electricity through them to shock his entire body. With multiple bumps on his head, Sub sits unconscious and tied up by one of the yo-yos as Killua toys around with the other, happily saying that they both worked.

Back in the forest, Gon staggers to his feet once again and Genthru asks him why he doesn't just give up since he doesn't stand a chance. With his left eye swelling shut, Gon says that he isn't done yet as he stands ready to fight. The two glare at each other, and Genthru tells Gon that he takes back what he said, acknowledging his strength and agreeing to show him his ability. He also says to himself that he misjudged the fight and wrongly thought it was a physical one, concluding that he has to break Gon's spirit.
